A bright yellow standout that possesses the skills of a true craftsman as you see

Some fly from nation to country, or even continent to continent, in order to avoid frigid conditions.

Others live in a single habitat and spend the entire year there.

To do this, certain birds have developed numerous survival strategies that have been passed down from generation to generation.

Such as how and where to find food or how to build a nest.

One such bird is the Village Weaver, which is a brilliant yellow bird with talents that would make many a human artisan envy.

Mauritania, Ethiopia, and South Africa are home to Village Weavers.

These tiny, sociable, and highly competent birds prefer partially open-range habitats such as woods, forests, or riverbanks.

They may also be heard talking away in loud bird song in many cities, villages, and hotels.

Despite the fact that these birds may be fairly noisy.

If not irritating, their weaving talent cannot be overlooked, and is quite impressive.

Male birds take on the task of nest building, and each nest they build is only used once.

Males may build up to 3-5 nests, with each nest taking between 9 and 14 hours to complete.

The nest is built of reed strips, grass, leaves, and/or palm blades braided into an elaborate kidney-like form.

With an entrance near the bottom. Village Weavers link their woven grass nests to freestanding tree branches.
