A female inmate was calmly mopping the floor in the prison corridor when the two most dangerous women in the entire block walked up to her, poured a bucket of dirty water over her head, and started laughing. Lauren had been in this prison for only ten days.
During that time, she had barely spoken to anyone, never argued, and tried not to draw any attention to herself. In the morning, she got up with everyone else, during the day she worked in the kitchen, and in the evening she cleaned the corridor near the cells.
That was exactly why most of the inmates decided she was weak.
Especially two women whom almost everyone in the block feared.
Martha and Kelly had already been there for several years. They constantly chose new victims, took other inmates’ food, forced people to wash their clothes, and subjected newcomers to humiliating “tests.”
The guards knew perfectly well what was happening, but it was difficult to prove anything because no one wanted to testify.
They noticed Lauren almost immediately. She was young, calm, and every time the women tried to provoke her, she simply walked past them.
That irritated them even more.
— She thinks she’s better than us, Martha said one day.
But the real reason appeared a few days later.
During lunch, Lauren saw Kelly take food away from an elderly inmate. The woman said nothing and simply lowered her eyes.
Lauren calmly took Kelly’s tray, placed it back in front of the elderly woman, and said:

At first, the women tried to deny everything, but the camera footage showed the attack, and the earring was sent for examination.
