The many-colored rush tyrant is just 3 to 4.5 inches (10 to 11.5 cm) long.

This is an extremely colorful bird, as the name says.

So much so that it has 7 different colors scattered throughout its little body.

The back and rump are green, while the belly and throat are yellow with a white throat.

The color of his face ranges from blue to grayish, with a yellow stripe here on top of his head.

The wings and tail are black, with a white wing bar and white tail feathers on the outside.

Finally, there is a splash of crimson under the tail.

Females and youngsters, like many other bird species, are not as vividly colored as males.

These little birds are located in South America, where they live in marshes and reed beds along lakes and rivers.

It is most common in south-east Brazil, southern Argentina, and central Chile.

Other populations can be found in the Andes of south-east Peru and west Bolivia, with yet another species limited to northern Chile’s Antofagasta Region.

The Many-colored rush tyrant spends its time looking for food, since it lives in swampy places.

Jumping onto floating plants in search of prey, even grabbing flying insects on the wing.
