Cary Grant’s only daughter spoke out about his sexuality decades after he shared home with a man who won 3 Oscars

In the 30s, it was not uncommon for men to live together.

Errol Flynn and David Niven lived in the same house as James Stewart and Henry Fonda.

Neither duo, however, received as much attention from their living predicament as Cary Grant and Randolph Scott.

They began dating in 1932, when they were both rising stars at Paramount Studios.

They lived together until 1940, when they had both amassed enough wealth to acquire a huge seaside house in Santa Monica.

Unlike the others, however, Grant and Scott’s connection got so much media attention that speculation about a possible homosexual romance emerged.

While theirs might have been a genuine Platonic connection, the PR campaigns around their relationship further added to the conjecture.

And their reported affair looked to be a very enticing and well-documented fact.

On Sundays, when they stopped shooting and opened their doors to informal gatherings, their beach home drew large crowds.

Despite allegations of his homosexual liaison with Scott, he married Virginia Cherrill in 1934.

Unfortunately, they separated a year later, and Grant went on to have long relationships with actresses Phyllis Brooks and Mary Brian.

Scott married his high school sweetheart, the heiress Marion DuPont, and then dated Dorothy Lamour after separating from his wife.
