My mother-in-law came to our wedding wearing a white wedding dress, as if she were the bride, and during the photoshoot she even took my place next to my husband. She clearly wanted to ruin my special day, but what I did in response left everyone in shock 😳
A few minutes before I was supposed to walk down the aisle, a long black limousine stopped at the gate. At first, I didn’t even pay attention to it because I was sure it was just one of the guests arriving. But when the door opened and my mother-in-law, Larisa, stepped out of the car, I was literally speechless.
She was wearing a long white lace dress with bare shoulders that, from a distance, looked almost exactly like a wedding dress. Her hair was styled in a high updo, and on top she had a white semi-transparent accessory that looked so much like a short veil that anyone seeing her for the first time would have thought she was the bride.
A few of my friends also fell silent and simply stared at her.
Larisa slowly walked up to me, looked my dress up and down, and then smiled with that same innocent smile I already knew far too well.
— Sorry, I accidentally chose a white dress just like yours. But it’s not a big deal, right? Today we’ll look like two best friends.
At that moment, I wanted to grab her by the dress and tear it right off her, but there were only a few minutes left before the ceremony, guests were standing all around us, and the photographer was already capturing everything, so I just forced a smile and stayed silent.
At the time, I still didn’t realize that the dress was only the beginning of the nightmare.
During the wedding, Larisa behaved as if the entire celebration had been arranged for her. Whenever guests came over to congratulate us, she was always right there and would start talking to them first. Some people told her she looked beautiful, and she would smile flirtatiously and reply:
— Thank you, I’ve been preparing for this day for a long time too.
Even when people brought us gifts, she reached out her hands several times before I did, as if the gifts were meant for her.
I tried not to react because I didn’t want to cause a scene at my own wedding, but during the photoshoot, I finally ran out of patience.
The photographer asked my husband and me to stand near the arch decorated with flowers. I was already walking toward him when Larisa suddenly stepped quickly next to her son, took his arm, and turned toward the photographer.
— Take pictures of us first. A mother and son should have beautiful photos together too.
The photographer looked confused, but he started taking pictures anyway.
After a few shots, I tried to move closer, but Larisa didn’t budge. On the contrary, she kept fixing her hair, smiling, and holding onto my husband’s arm while I stood a few steps behind them like an ordinary guest.
And that was exactly when I realized that if I allowed this now, things like this would keep happening for the rest of my life.
And here’s what I did… 😯🤔 I told the rest of the story in the first comment 👇👇
I walked over to my friend and quietly whispered just a few words to her.
Ten minutes later, we were sitting at the table when my friend walked past Larisa holding a glass of dark berry juice. She pretended to trip, and almost the entire glass ended up all over my mother-in-law’s white dress.
Larisa jumped to her feet.
— Do you even see what you’ve done?!
All the guests turned toward us.
I immediately stood up and deliberately said very loudly:
— How could you?! That’s my mother-in-law’s dress!
My friend started apologizing while I walked over to Larisa and gently took her hand.
— Come with me to the room. If we clean the fabric quickly, we might still be able to remove the stain.
She calmed down a little and followed me.
In the room, I helped her take off the dress and said:
— Wait here. I’ll take it to the hotel laundry.
Larisa was left standing there in just her underwear while I took her dress, walked out into the hallway, and locked the door from the outside.
After that, I simply went back to the wedding.
For the next few hours, no one saw Larisa. She called my husband several times, then me, but the music was loud, so I calmly pretended not to hear anything.
Only later in the evening did she finally appear in the hall wearing some unfamiliar clothes that she had apparently managed to borrow from one of the hotel employees.
She walked up to me, red with anger.
— Did you lock me in on purpose?
I looked at her and calmly replied:
— That’s for trying to ruin my wedding. Next time, it will be worse.
Larisa wanted to say something, but then she noticed several guests standing nearby and stayed silent.
And for the first time that entire day, I finally felt calm.
