A man stumbled upon an old, abandoned ambulance deep in a remote forest, its doors locked from the inside. But when he managed to force one of the doors open and look inside, he froze in horror: there was something in there he had never expected to see 😱😨
That day, the man had gone into the forest to pick mushrooms. He knew the area well, having visited every autumn for many years, and was confident he could find his way back even without GPS.
Toward evening, however, the weather suddenly took a turn for the worse. Heavy rain began to fall, fog enveloped the forest, and the man realized he no longer recognized his surroundings.
He tried several times to retrace his steps, but the ground was wet, and all the trees around him looked the same. His phone battery was almost dead, there was no signal, and it was getting colder by the minute.
The man was beginning to worry seriously when he spotted something white among the trees.
At first, he thought it was a small house or an old hunting cabin, but as he drew closer, he realized with surprise that an ambulance stood before him.
The vehicle looked as though it had been there for years. The white paint had long since darkened, the bodywork was covered in rust, the windows were filthy, and tall grass had grown around the wheels. Wet leaves lay on the roof, and a red cross was still visible on the side door.
The man stood motionless for several minutes, trying to understand how an ambulance could possibly have ended up in the middle of such a forest.
There were no roads or houses nearby, not even old tire tracks. The nearest village was several miles away, and the vehicle stood in such dense undergrowth that an ordinary car could hardly have made it through.
He walked around the ambulance and noticed something else strange. All the doors were firmly shut, although the vehicle showed no visible signs of an accident.
The man pulled the driver’s door handle, but it would not open. He tried the passenger door, then approached the rear doors, through which patients were usually loaded, but those were locked too.
Yet there were no padlocks or chains on the outside. Apparently, the doors had been locked from within.
That struck him as even stranger. If someone had abandoned the vehicle in the forest, why would they have locked it that way?
The man tried to peer through the rear window, but it was so dirty that he could not make out anything inside.
Then he took a small flashlight from his backpack, shone it through a side window, and suddenly noticed something unusual.
An old medical bag lay on the floor, bandages were scattered beside it, and something strange was visible on the stretcher.
The man felt a chill run down his spine.
He banged loudly on the door several times and called out, asking whether anyone was inside, but there was no answer.
Then he found a heavy stone on the ground and began striking the old side window. Only after several hard blows did the glass break, allowing him to reach the interior door handle.

When the door finally opened, a heavy, musty smell poured out of the vehicle.
The man shone his flashlight inside and almost dropped it in horror.
A human skeleton lay on the stretcher, dressed in the remains of a medical uniform. A second skeleton was on the floor near the rear door, as though the person had been trying to get out until the very end.
The man recoiled in terror, but then noticed an old bag containing documents beside one of the skeletons.
Among the yellowed papers was a notebook recording the final days of two medical workers’ lives.
As it later emerged, many years earlier, an ambulance crew had set out on an urgent call to a remote village. Heavy snowfall had closed the main road, and the driver had decided to take an old forest track.
But a blizzard struck, the vehicle became stuck, and their attempts to find the way back led nowhere.
At one point, a pack of wolves emerged from the forest. The frightened medical workers rushed back into the ambulance and locked all the doors from the inside.
They hoped to wait until morning, but the snowfall continued for several days. There was no signal, the engine would no longer start, and the temperature kept dropping.
The wolves prowled around the vehicle for a long time, and the people inside were afraid to leave. By the time the animals finally went away, the medical workers were so weakened by the cold that they could barely move.
One final entry remained in the notebook: “We can no longer feel our hands or feet. If anyone finds this ambulance, please tell our families where we were.”
The man immediately left the vehicle and, after managing to reach a place with phone reception, called the police.
Experts later established that both medical workers had indeed been listed as missing for many years. Most likely, they had died of severe hypothermia before help could reach them.
The most terrible part was that, all that time, their relatives had continued to hope that the missing crew would one day return home.
And only a mushroom picker who had become lost by chance was able, after so many years, to uncover the mystery of the old ambulance that had stood deep in the forest all along.
