In a crowded bus, a grandmother asked a little girl to give up her seat, even though there were many young men around: but the girl’s answer made the entire bus freeze in shock 😯😨
The bus was packed. People stood close to each other, holding onto the rails and silently looking out the windows. Outside, gray streets, a few trees, and wet asphalt after the morning rain stretched along the road. Inside the bus there was the smell of damp jackets, gasoline, and someone’s perfume.
At one of the stops, the doors opened heavily and an elderly woman slowly stepped into the bus. She was about seventy years old. She wore a light coat, a neat beret, and glasses with a thin frame. In her hands she held a small bag. It was clear that standing was difficult for her: she carefully moved between people and held tightly onto the metal rail.
The bus started moving, and the woman swayed slightly. She barely managed to keep her balance.
There were many young men in the bus. Some were sitting and staring at their phones, some pretended to sleep, and others simply looked out the window. No one even tried to stand up.
The elderly woman looked around. Her gaze moved along the rows of seats and stopped at a little girl about five years old who was sitting on the edge of a seat next to her mother. The girl was wearing a bright yellow coat and was attentively looking out at the street.
The grandmother leaned slightly toward her and said in a calm voice:
— Little girl, give your seat to grandma.
The little girl turned her head and looked at her in surprise.
— Why? she asked innocently.
The woman smiled slightly, but it was clear that it was really hard for her to stand.
— Because my legs hurt.
The girl thought for a moment and asked again:
— Grandma, when you were young, did you give your seat to everyone?
— Yes, of course, the woman answered confidently.
— To everyone? To men, children, and women?
— Of course. It’s a sign of respect.
Several passengers began listening to the conversation.
The girl looked at the grandmother for a few more seconds, as if thinking about something. Then she said a phrase very seriously that made the entire bus seem to freeze for a moment. 😯☹️ The continuation of this interesting and funny story can be found in the first comment 👇👇
— That’s why your legs hurt now. You shouldn’t have given your seat to everyone.
At first, silence fell over the bus. People looked at each other as if they didn’t immediately understand what she had said. Then someone quietly giggled, another person laughed, and within a moment laughter spread through the whole bus.
Even the grandmother herself couldn’t hold back and started laughing. The girl’s mother blushed and quickly turned to her daughter.
— Sofi, you shouldn’t speak to adults like that.
The girl looked at her with sincere eyes.
— But mom, am I not right?
The mother sighed, smiled, and gently reached out her arms to her daughter.
— No, my dear. It’s just not polite to speak like that. Come sit on my lap.
She placed Sofi on her lap, freeing the seat.
— Let grandma sit.
The elderly woman nodded gratefully and carefully sat down. The bus started moving again, people gradually calmed down, but smiles remained on many faces for a long time.
And little Sofi, sitting on her mother’s lap, quietly looked out the window and seemed still convinced that she had said the most logical thing in the world.
