That day, a young woman named Victoria was driving home along a country road. She was driving calmly, staying within the speed limit, and paying close attention to the road signs. The weather was nice, and there were only a few cars on the highway, so she wasn’t expecting any trouble.
After a while, a patrol car appeared in her rearview mirror. The officers switched on their flashing lights and motioned for Victoria to pull over to the side of the road.

The first officer angrily threw her documents onto the roof of the car.

“On what grounds?”

He looked at the photograph several times, then read the name, rank, and the name of the agency. His smile instantly disappeared.
Victoria turned out to be an officer with the Internal Affairs Division, the department responsible for investigating complaints against police officers. She was returning from a work meeting and driving her personal vehicle, so the officers had assumed she was just an ordinary young woman.
The second officer snatched the ID from his partner’s hands and began reading it as well. His hands started trembling noticeably.
“Why didn’t you tell us right away?” he asked quietly.
