She was forced to marry a wealthy man whom people secretly called the “Pig King” to save her father from an enormous debt. But on their wedding night, the young woman screamed in horror when her husband began peeling off his own “skin.” 馃槺
When Sophia turned twenty-five, marriage was the last thing on her mind. She worked at a small hotel and gave almost her entire salary to her mother because their family had been drowning in debt for several years.
The main reason was Sophia’s father. He constantly gambled, borrowed money, and promised every time that he would soon repay every last penny. But one day, the amount became so enormous that paying it back was simply impossible.
Her father owed almost fifty million pesos to a man named Victor Alvarez.
Victor owned construction companies, restaurants, and several hotels. But his fortune wasn’t the only thing people talked about.
The man weighed around 140 kilograms, breathed heavily, constantly sweated, and almost always moved around in a specially designed wheelchair. His face was covered with strange scars, and his personality was considered so difficult that even his employees tried to avoid speaking to him unless absolutely necessary.
One evening, Victor personally arrived at the debtor’s house.
“You have one week to repay the money,” he calmly told Sophia’s father.
The man turned pale.
“I don’t have that kind of money. But I can offer you something else.”
He looked at his daughter, who was standing by the door. Sophia immediately sensed that something terrible was about to happen.
“Marry my daughter, and forgive the debt.”
“Dad, do you even understand what you’re saying?” the young woman whispered.
But her father was already begging Victor to agree.
The strangest thing happened a few seconds later. The billionaire stared at Sophia for a long moment before finally answering:
“All right. But only if she agrees herself.”
Sophia could have refused, but then her father would have lost their house and most likely ended up in prison because of other fraudulent schemes the family had only recently discovered.
The young woman agreed, even though she felt disgusted just looking at her future husband.
Hundreds of guests attended the wedding. Sophia looked magnificent in her white dress, while Victor sat beside her. His enormous belly barely fit beneath his jacket, his face glistened with sweat, and an assistant constantly stood beside his wheelchair.
The guests whispered among themselves, not even bothering to lower their voices.
“She sold herself for money.”
“I can only imagine how disgusted she must feel being next to him.”
Sophia heard everything but said nothing.
When Victor became overheated, she brought him water and gently wiped his forehead with a napkin.
The man suddenly asked:
“Doesn’t it disgust you to touch me?”
Sophia looked surprised.
“You’re my husband.”
After those words, Victor fell silent for the first time that evening.
Late that night, they arrived at his mansion.
When the bedroom door closed, Sophia visibly tensed.
However, Victor didn’t even approach her. Sophia looked at him in surprise.
“Then why did you agree to this marriage in the first place?”
Victor didn’t answer.
He stood up from his wheelchair.
Sophia froze.
The man who supposedly could barely walk suddenly took several steps without the slightest difficulty.
“You… you can walk?”
Victor looked at her and locked the door.
“Sophia, you’re about to see something almost nobody knows about.”
He placed his hands against the skin near his neck.
At first, the young woman couldn’t understand what was happening. But a second later, the edge of his skin began to peel away.
Sophia screamed and stumbled backward toward the bed.
Victor slowly pulled off a thick silicone bodysuit that completely covered his body from his neck to his hips.
His enormous belly, folds of skin, and even some of his scars turned out to be an incredibly realistic disguise.
Standing before Sophia was a completely different man.
Young, tall, and athletic.
“Who… who are you?” she barely managed to whisper.
“Victor Alvarez,” the man replied. “But there’s something else you need to know. My most terrible secret.” 馃槼馃槺

As it turned out, three years earlier, Victor had nearly been killed in an assassination attempt. That was when he realized that someone among his closest relatives wanted to get their hands on his fortune.
Victor pretended to be suffering from the severe effects of an illness and began appearing in public wearing a specially designed suit. He wanted to look like a weak man who was approaching death so he could discover who would be the first to take advantage of the situation.
But there was another reason.
He had stopped trusting people.
Every woman he was introduced to seemed interested only in his money, and some even laughed at his appearance, believing he couldn’t hear them.
When Sophia’s father offered his own daughter in exchange for canceling the debt, Victor initially wanted to call the police.
But then he decided to test the young woman.
“So that’s why you behaved so horribly all the time?” Sophia asked.
Victor nodded.
“I wanted to see whether you would laugh at me, humiliate me, or try to take my money. But today, you were the only person in that hall who treated me like a normal human being.”
Sophia remained silent for a long time.
Then her expression suddenly changed.
“So all of this was a test?”
“Yes.”
“Then you’re no better than my father.”
Victor clearly hadn’t expected that answer.
Sophia removed her wedding ring and placed it on the table.
“One man decided he could trade me to pay off a debt, and another decided he could test me as if I were an object. I don’t belong to either of you.”
She headed toward the door.
But Victor made no attempt to stop her.
The next morning, Sophia discovered that her family’s debt had been completely paid off and that a bank account had been opened in her name containing enough money to last her an entire lifetime.
She didn’t take a single peso.
Almost six months passed.
One evening, Victor appeared at her doorstep.
Without the wheelchair, without the enormous belly, and without the mask.
“Last time, other people made the decision for you,” the man said. “That’s why this time, the choice will be entirely yours. I haven’t come here looking for a wife. I’ve come to ask whether you would simply agree to have a cup of coffee with me.”
Sophia looked at Victor and unexpectedly smiled.
