A girl who was a victim of bullying managed to feel better and achieve great success. Winnie Harlow, born in Canada in 1994 to Jamaican parents, was diagnosed with vitiligo at the age of four. This condition, which affects about 1% of the global population, causes a loss of pigmentation in certain areas of the skin.

During her childhood, Winnie was relentlessly bullied because of her appearance. The teasing at school, where she was called humiliating names, continued despite several school changes. The bullying became so severe that she even considered ending her life.

However, this difficult period pushed Winnie to explore creative activities such as music, dance, and art. Her career took a major turn when she was selected to appear in a music video. It was then that YouTuber Shannon Boodram recognized her potential and helped her get noticed in the entertainment industry, embracing her unique look.

Today, Winnie has become an active advocate for people with vitiligo. She shares her experiences at conferences, encouraging others to live fully despite their condition. Recently, she made history by being chosen as an angel for the Victoria’s Secret fashion show, a groundbreaking achievement for her. On her Instagram blog, she supports people with visible imperfections and shares her achievements and inspiring stories.
