58 years ago, almost immediately after their marriage, Liang and Li settled here. They had no money to build their own house, not even to rent a small room, so they found the place and decided to live under the stone vaults.
Over time, the couple established their own household: pigs, chickens, and a few dogs.
Inside the cave, they have created several living spaces: bedrooms, kitchens, a living room, and outbuildings for the animals at the entrance.
They also grow vegetables and fruits. Since they almost never have money, they obtain clothes, flour, and other necessities in the nearest province in exchange for their own products like meat, eggs, and vegetables.
They all work together on agriculture. The story of this family has been known for several years.
The media have written about them. Authorities offered the couple a nice apartment in the city or a small house in the countryside, but they declined, arguing that they needed practically nothing to be happy.
What matters is that they are together, and that is enough. Furthermore, having lived together in a cave for nearly sixty years, they are accustomed to the peace, privacy, fresh air, and nature, and they say the city would completely ruin this idyll.
They are happy, and that is all that matters.
