I came to work as usual, greeted my colleagues, and was about to head to my desk when I suddenly noticed a strange object on the wall next to the security guards. It had a weird shape, was rotating slowly, and across its surface bright lights were flashing in different colors. š±
To be honest, I felt uneasy at first. I thought it might be a new surveillance camera or some complex scanning device that would track our every move. š¢ For a second, I even got scared ā thoughts of total control popped into my head, that management wanted to āspyā on every employee. š¤ Then I found out what it really was, and I was speechless. I timidly asked the security guard what that thing was. He smiled and said:
ā Oh, thatās just a holographic fan, donāt worry.
A holographic fan? That sounded almost like something from a sci-fi movie to me. Then he explained that itās an LED display attached to the spinning blades of the fan.
When the blades start spinning quickly, the LEDs light up in a specific sequence and create a āfloatingā image in the air. Today, for example, it was showing clock hands and the name of our company.
I came closer ā and it really looked like the clock face was shining in mid-air, with no support at all. It looked so realistic that I even reached out to touch it, but my fingers just went through the image.
At first it was a bit creepy, but then it actually felt fun. Imagine how many things you could display on that screen! Ads, notifications, greetings ā all literally floating in the air.
