Every night before bed, my husband gave me white pills, assuring me they were just ordinary vitamins to improve my memory, and he always made sure I swallowed them right in front of him. But one day, I pretended to take the pill, and that same night I uncovered my husband’s horrifying secret 😱
Over the past few months, strange and unpleasant things had really been happening to me. I could walk into the kitchen and forget why I had gone there, spend ten minutes looking for my phone when it was right in front of me, or suddenly be unable to remember whether I had eaten breakfast. Sometimes my husband would tell me something, then half an hour later ask if I remembered our conversation, and I would realize in horror that I couldn’t remember what we had talked about at all.
“You need to do something about your memory before it becomes a serious problem,” my husband said one day. “I’ll find some good medication for you. It will help your brain recover.”
I believed him without a single doubt.
The very next day, he brought home a small bottle without the usual pharmacy packaging and explained that he had gotten the pills through a doctor he knew, so the box had been thrown away.
Every evening, the same thing happened.
My husband placed a glass of water in front of me, took out one white pill, and watched carefully until I swallowed it.
For the first few days, I waited to feel better, but instead everything only got worse.
In the mornings, I woke up with a heavy head and the feeling that I hadn’t slept at all. Sometimes I couldn’t remember how I had gotten into bed, whether I had taken off my clothes myself, or whether I had spoken to my husband that evening.
One day, I found a message on my phone that I had sent to a friend in the middle of the night.
“I’m scared.”
I stared at those two words for a long time because I had absolutely no memory of why I had written them.
When I asked my husband about it, he only laughed.
“You haven’t been yourself lately. You probably had some kind of dream.”
But the strangest thing happened a few days later.
In the morning, when I went to wash up, I noticed a small fresh scratch on the inside of my arm and a bruise beside it.
I knew for certain that neither had been there the night before.
“Where did this come from?” I asked my husband.
He barely even looked at it.
“You got up during the night to go to the bathroom and hit the door.”
“I got up during the night?”
“Of course.”
“But I don’t remember that.”
My husband sighed heavily, as though my questions annoyed him.
“That’s exactly why you need the pills. You’re constantly forgetting things.”
For some reason, that sentence didn’t reassure me. It did the opposite. It made me suspicious.
All day, I thought back over the past few weeks, and suddenly I realized something strange: before, I had occasionally forgotten small things, but the real memory blackouts had only started after my husband began giving me his “vitamins.”
That evening, he brought me another pill. I had already decided that this time, I wouldn’t swallow it.
I put the pill in my mouth, took several sips of water, and smiled at my husband.
“Done.”
He looked at me carefully.
“Show me your mouth.”
My blood ran cold.
I lifted my tongue, having already hidden the pill deep inside my cheek. My husband made sure he couldn’t see anything, turned off the light, and lay down beside me.
After a while, I quietly took the pill out and hid it in a small plastic bag under the mattress. In the morning, I planned to take it to a laboratory and find out exactly what he had been giving me.
But I didn’t have to wait until morning. About an hour later, my husband got out of bed.
I lay completely still and breathed slowly, pretending to be asleep. He called my name several times. I didn’t answer.
Then he did something that froze me with absolute terror 😨😳 The rest of the story can be found in the first comment 👇👇
My husband leaned in very close, looked at my face, and quietly said:
“Finally.”
Then he left the bedroom.
A few minutes later, I heard his voice coming from the next room.
He was talking to someone on the phone.
“She’s getting worse and worse,” my husband said calmly. “The memory blackouts are already serious. Soon we’ll be able to arrange an evaluation.”
My heart started beating so hard that I felt as if he could hear it through the wall.
“No, she doesn’t suspect anything,” he continued. “Just a little longer, and the doctors themselves will write that she is incapable of making decisions on her own. Then getting guardianship will be much easier.”
I could barely breathe.
But his next sentence was even more terrifying.
“The main thing is to make sure all the property stays under my control.”
Only then did I understand why he needed my “illness.”
After my parents died, I had inherited a large fortune, several apartments, and money in bank accounts. My husband had never seemed particularly interested in any of it, so I had never imagined that it could be the reason behind everything that was happening.
The next morning, as soon as he left for work, I took the hidden pill to be analyzed.
The result confirmed my worst suspicions.
They were not vitamins at all.
He had been regularly giving me powerful medication that, when used incorrectly and over a long period, could cause confusion, memory blackouts, severe drowsiness, and serious problems with the nervous system.
And then everything finally made sense.
My husband wasn’t trying to cure me.
He was gradually making sure that I truly appeared ill.
Later, I discovered that he had already been collecting medical documents and had spoken several times with colleagues about my “worsening condition.”
He wanted to wait until I was officially declared incapable of managing my own affairs, after which he planned to obtain guardianship and gain control over my family’s money.
