For the past few days, our daughter hardly ever left the wall in the living room. She kept sitting there and playing: we thought it was just a childish game, until one day we saw a large hole in the wall, and inside that hole there was… 😱
For the past few days, our one-and-a-half-year-old daughter had barely moved away from one particular wall in the living room. She could sit there for twenty or thirty minutes, whisper something, tap the wall with her tiny hand, and then laugh as if someone were answering her from the other side.
At first, my husband and I did not pay any attention to it at all.
— She probably made up a new friend, — my husband laughed.
I smiled too. At that age, children can spend hours talking to a toy, a curtain, or even their own reflection, so our daughter’s strange behavior did not scare me at all.
Besides, the wall looked completely normal.
But a few days later, I noticed something else strange. Our daughter started constantly bringing her toys there. First she brought a small stuffed bunny, then some blocks, and later she even tried to leave her water bottle near the wall.
Whenever I put the things back in their place, she got angry and carried them back to the same spot again.
Then one evening, I heard a strange sound coming from the living room.
I came out of the kitchen, but the sound stopped immediately. Our daughter was sitting by the wall and looking at me carefully.
— What are you doing there? — I asked.
She smiled, put a finger to her lips, even though we had never deliberately taught her that gesture, and then turned back toward the wall.
At that moment, I started to feel a little uneasy, but I decided I was probably just imagining too much.
The next morning, everything changed.
I was preparing lunch for the family and slicing bread. A few pieces were lying near the edge of the table. I turned away for literally one minute to get something from the refrigerator, and when I turned back, I saw our daughter standing near the table.
She quickly grabbed two pieces of bread and ran out of the kitchen.
I even laughed.
— Where are you taking that?
Our daughter did not answer.
A few minutes later, I remembered her and went into the living room. When I saw the wall, I froze right in the doorway.
Exactly where our daughter had been sitting for the past several days, there was now a huge, uneven hole. Pieces of plaster and drywall were scattered across the floor, and inside there was a dark space between the walls.
But the scariest thing was something else. Our daughter was calmly sitting beside the opening and pushing the pieces of bread inside one by one.
— No! — I screamed and rushed toward her.
I picked up our daughter and carried her away. And that was exactly when I noticed something truly horrifying inside the wall… 😨😱 The rest of the story can be found in the first comment 👇👇
And at that exact moment, a loud rustling sound came from inside the wall.
At first, I thought there was a rat in there. The thought made me shudder, because the opening was far too large, and something inside was moving quite heavily.
I called my husband. He took a flashlight, crouched down beside the wall, and carefully shone it inside. A second later, he suddenly recoiled.
— There’s someone in there.
I do not even know why I moved closer. I probably just wanted to understand what our daughter had been playing with all those days.
I bent down and looked inside. Two eyes gleamed in the darkness. Then a small face appeared. It was a raccoon.
A fairly large adult raccoon was sitting inside the wall, only a few inches away from us, staring directly at me.
I barely had time to step back before something moved again behind it.
That was when we realized the most unexpected thing. The raccoon was not alone. Behind it were three tiny babies.
Later, a specialist explained to us that the animal had probably entered the house through a damaged area near the roof, climbed down between the walls, and made a shelter there. And when food started becoming scarce, the raccoon gradually began tearing through the drywall from the inside.
But our daughter had heard it before we did.
Apparently, for several days she had been hearing rustling behind the wall and decided that someone hungry was living there. That was why she brought her toys, water, and then started bringing food too.
