But as soon as the plane began to taxi, my dreams were rudely interrupted. In front of me sat a young girl — barely in her twenties. As soon as she got comfortable, she threw her long, thick hair right over my tray table, nearly covering my entire screen.

I didn’t want any conflict. I politely asked her to move her hair — she apologized and did so. But ten minutes later, her hair was back in my space.

I leaned forward again and repeated my request. She didn’t even turn around — just pretended not to hear me.

I slowly took three pieces of gum from my bag, chewed them one by one, calmly. Then, with a completely neutral expression, I quietly began sticking them to her hair.

About fifteen minutes passed before she turned around, sensing something was off.

She touched her hair — and froze.

“What… is… this?” she hissed, trying to pull off the sticky gum.

Without taking my eyes off the screen, I calmly said:

“This is the result of your arrogance.”

“You’re insane!”

“And you’re rude. Now you have two choices. One: you continue the flight like this and later have to cut off half your hair. Two: I can help you right now with a small pair of scissors. I’ve got manicure scissors in my bag. Want that?”

The girl turned pale.

I leaned in closer and added, without raising my voice:
