A young couple decided to ruin my flight because I didn’t give up my seat — but I had a plan to get revenge 😲😲
It all started out calmly. To survive the upcoming 14 hours in the air, I had paid for a business class seat.
As soon as I got comfortable, a stranger approached me with his wife.
— Hey, — he said. — Would you mind switching seats with my wife? She’s in economy, and we just got married…
A simple enough question. But I had paid a lot for my seat. I didn’t want to be rude, so I politely replied:
— Sure, no problem. But my ticket cost more. I’ll switch if you cover the difference — it’s just $50.
The stranger’s smile vanished. He muttered through clenched teeth:
— You’ll regret this.
He took his seat, and his wife went back to economy.
I thought that would be the end of it. But then the nightmare began.
He started sneezing and coughing loudly. Then he watched an action movie on his phone — without headphones. He chewed loudly. And worst of all: during the flight, he had his wife sit on his lap.
— We just want to cuddle a bit, — she said, settling in.
Other passengers looked on in disbelief while I tried to remain calm.
Finally, I had enough and did something that made them shut up once and for all… Continued in the first comment 👇👇
I called the flight attendant.
— You’re not allowed to sit two people in one seat, and you can’t disturb other passengers, — she said. — Please return to your assigned seat. You didn’t even pay for this one.
The wife, clearly embarrassed, went back to her seat, and finally there was peace. I had won. The man gave me a few angry glances but then put on his headphones and didn’t look my way again for the rest of the flight.
Just because they’re newlyweds doesn’t give them the right to be rude and ruin the experience for others. What do you think — did I do the right thing?
