I have been with my fiancƩ for six years, but we have known each other for nine years. We were supposed to get married next month, but everything changed in our marriage journey.
We visited my parents so he could meet some of my family before the wedding. My parents offered to host us, and we chose to stay in my old room out of nostalgia.
My fiancƩ, Adam, wanted to stay at a hotel, but I thought it would be fun to share my old room with him.
āI donāt see how staying in your childhood home is going to change anything,ā Adam said as we packed for the trip.
āBecause this will be my last time with my parents under their roof before I become a married woman. Itās going to be a sentimental moment,ā I replied.
As the night went on and we all prepared for a good nightās sleep before the family outing to the amusement park the next day, Adam kept disturbing my sleep.
āWhatās going on?ā I asked, turning to him.
āI just canāt sleep, Sasha,ā he replied irritably. āThis isnāt my bed, and Iām not used to sleeping in beds that arenāt mine. And your bed is lumpy and uncomfortable.ā
āJust go take a walk outside,ā I groaned. āThe fresh air should help, and youāll come back and fall asleep.ā
