The parents forced their young daughter to marry a strange man who was 30 years older than her and had been born with blue hair and a blue beard

The parents forced their young daughter to marry a strange man who was 30 years older than her and had been born with blue hair and a blue beard. But after the wedding, the girl discovered a terrifying secret hidden within the walls of her husband’s house. 😨

Elisa’s family had once lived quite well, but within a few years everything changed. Her father lost almost his entire fortune because of failed business deals, the house was mortgaged, and the people he owed money to started coming almost every day.

One day, her father returned home unusually pleased and immediately called for his wife.

— I think I’ve found a way out.

That evening, Elisa heard for the first time the name of the man her parents intended to marry her off to.

His name was Adrian. He was fifty-two years old, owned several estates, large plots of land, and an enormous old mansion outside the city. People said he had so much money that he could live several lifetimes without ever denying himself anything.

But whenever his name was mentioned, people always remembered something else as well: his appearance.

Adrian had been born with almost black hair that had a strange blue tint. As he grew older, he developed a thick beard of the same color, and the man looked so unusual that children hid behind their parents whenever they saw him in the street.

There were also far more frightening rumors about him.

People said that Adrian had wanted to marry once before, but the engagement had suddenly been broken off because the young woman disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Others claimed that footsteps could be heard at night in the empty corridors of his house, even though half the rooms had been locked for years.

Elisa did not know what to believe, but one look at her future husband was enough to frighten her.

— I don’t want to marry him, she told her mother. — I don’t even know him.

But her parents had already made their decision.

Adrian agreed to pay off all the family’s debts, recover her father’s mortgaged house, and provide them with a peaceful life. A few weeks later, the wedding took place.

During the ceremony, Elisa barely raised her eyes. She could feel the guests staring at her and hear women whispering about her husband.

Adrian, on the other hand, kept watching his young wife calmly and attentively. After the wedding, a carriage took them to his estate.

The house was much larger than Elisa had imagined. High ceilings, enormous staircases, expensive paintings, golden candleholders, and long corridors where it was easy to get lost.

On their very first night, Adrian decided to show his wife around the house. He opened one door after another for her.

The library, the winter garden, the music room, the drawing rooms, the guest rooms.

— This is your home now too, he said. — You may use anything in it.

But at the very end of the second floor, they stopped in front of a small dark door. It had no decorations, and the lock looked much newer than the door itself.

Adrian took out a ring of keys, removed one small silver key from it, and held it in his hand for several seconds.

— There is only one rule.

Elisa looked at him.

— You may enter any room in this house without permission. Except this one.

— Why?

The man’s face changed immediately.

— Because I said so.

He explained nothing more. From that day on, Elisa tried to stay away from that part of the house, but for some reason she could not stop thinking about the prohibition.

The servants’ behavior made her even more uneasy. When she once asked an elderly maid what was behind the door, the woman turned pale.

— It would be better if you didn’t ask, madam.

A few days later, Adrian announced that he had to travel to a neighboring town on business and would not return until the following evening.

Before leaving, he gave his wife the ring of keys. Elisa tried for a long time to occupy herself with something else, but toward evening she finally went upstairs to the second floor.

She stood in front of the forbidden door and several times tried to convince herself to leave. But then she noticed the small silver key on the ring.

Her hand seemed to move toward the lock on its own. The door opened with a quiet creak.

Elisa expected to find anything: a hiding place, weapons, traces of a crime, or proof of one of the terrible rumors. But behind the door was something even more horrifying 😳😱 The continuation of the story can be found in the first comment 👇👇

But behind the door was a child’s bedroom.

In the middle stood a small bed beneath a white canopy. Beside it lay a wooden doll, children’s books lined the shelves, and a small cup sat on the table, as though a child had only recently left the room.

Everything was covered with a thin layer of dust. Dozens of drawings hung on the walls.

Many of them showed a little girl standing beside a tall man with a blue beard. Elisa stepped closer and noticed a portrait of a girl about seven years old above the bed. Beneath it were the words:

“To my beloved Sofia.”

A voice sounded behind her.

— I forbade you from coming in here.

Elisa spun around and saw Adrian.

He had returned early.

The girl turned pale and backed toward the wall, expecting the worst. But the man did not approach her. He looked only at the child’s bed.

A few seconds later, Adrian sank heavily into a chair and, for the first time since Elisa had met him, he did not look frightening. He looked completely broken.

It turned out that many years earlier, he had been married. His wife had died shortly after giving birth to their daughter, and Adrian had raised the girl alone.

Sofia was the only person he had ever truly loved.

But when she was seven years old, the girl became seriously ill. The best doctors came to the mansion one after another, but none of them could save her.

After his daughter’s death, Adrian locked the room and ordered that no one ever enter it. He would not allow anyone to remove the toys, the clothes, or the drawings, because he was afraid that if they disappeared, the last memory of his child would disappear with them.

The strange sounds the servants heard at night also had a simple explanation: sometimes Adrian himself came into the room, sat beside his daughter’s bed, and spent several hours there.

That was exactly why he was so afraid that someone would break his one and only rule.

For the first time, Elisa understood that the terrible rumors people had surrounded this man with were hiding a completely different story.

  • The image of the unusual man with the blue beard in this story was inspired by Charles Perrault’s famous fairy tale “Bluebeard,” but Elisa’s story and the secret of the locked room were created by us in a different version.
