The woman was certain that she was already eight months pregnant and came in for a routine ultrasound, but the moment the doctor looked at the screen, his eyes widened in horror 😨
Over the past few months, the woman had hardly doubted that she would soon become a mother. Her belly had gradually grown, she had gained weight, her clothes had become tight, and she often suffered from severe nausea in the mornings.
It had all started about eight months earlier.
She bought a pregnancy test at the pharmacy and burst into tears of joy when she saw the positive result. To be completely sure, she took another test a few days later.
The result was positive again.
After that, there were almost no doubts left. Other signs gradually appeared: weakness, sleepiness, mood swings, and strange changes in her appetite. Sometimes she felt so sick in the mornings that she could not eat properly for several hours.
Then her belly began to grow.
However, the pregnancy was progressing in a somewhat unusual way. The woman had postponed a full medical examination several times. First because of work, then because of family matters. She also felt strange movements inside her abdomen.
Sometimes it seemed to her as if the baby was turning over or kicking. This happened especially often in the evenings.
According to her calculations, she was already in her eighth month, so one morning she finally booked an ultrasound appointment. She wanted to know whether everything was all right before the birth.
At first, the doctor did not notice anything unusual in the examination room. In front of him was a woman with a huge belly, calmly talking about her pregnancy.
— Eighth month? — he asked.
— Yes. There is very little time left now, — the woman smiled.
The doctor turned on the machine and prepared the probe.
— Now let’s see how your baby is doing.
He smiled, applied cold gel to her belly, and began the examination. For the first few seconds, the doctor looked at the monitor calmly. Then his hand suddenly stopped. The smile disappeared from his face.
He slowly moved the probe in another direction, adjusted something on the machine, and looked carefully at the screen again.
The woman noticed the change in his expression.
— Is something wrong? — she asked anxiously.
