When I came across it near the trash cans, I noticed that it was in poor condition: the varnish was chipped, the finish was damaged and grease stains were visible.
Nevertheless, its old design tamed me, and I decided to restore it.
I managed to remove the glass doors, which were delicate and did not fit well with the rest of the furniture.
Then I cleaned the surface and removed the old layer of wax.
At first, I doubted the chance of restoring it because of the stains and cracks.
But the wood pattern was so beautiful that I decided to preserve it by applying two coats of oil.
The finish regained its shine, and I reinforced the back of the furniture with nails to prevent any weakening.
I also applied a colorless oil to protect the wood.
Regarding the doors, I hesitated to paint them.
I thought that solid colors would make the whole thing too costume and that the furniture would detract from its value.
I then drew inspiration from the ancient traditions and the typical element of Romanian furniture of the last century, which absolutely fit into the general style.
Finally, I chose handles that matched the overall design of the furniture.
Once installed, the bedside table was transformed and now looks like new.
