But becoming a mother at the age of 70 is truly an exception to the rule! Yet, this is precisely the case for a woman who gave birth to her first child through a “miraculous” IVF procedure in western India. Let’s take a look back at this surreal story.
All the credit goes to Dr. Naresh Bhanushali, a gynecologist in the city of Bhuj in the state of Gujarat, who successfully performed the procedure on Jivuben Vallabhai Rabari.
She gave birth to a healthy baby boy despite her advanced age. The doctor told the British newspaper *The Independent* that he had never seen a case like this in 20 years of practice.
Hope keeps us alive, as they say. This couple clung to that hope for a long time, but in vain. Their only great regret in life was not having a child.
After 45 years of marriage, the couple could have resigned themselves to the idea of living out their lives together without offspring. But Jivuben Valabhai Rabari was not one to give up easily! Tenacious and determined, she never gave up. Against all odds, she still had the wild hope of bringing a child into the world. Regardless of the risks, complications, and doctors’ warnings.
“We were very lucky that the operation was successful without any issues,” the doctor confessed.
However, even though the entire medical team took great care of this patient, closely monitoring her hemoglobin and even involving cardiologists to prevent any cardiac complications, such a successful delivery remains a rare and exceptional event.
