Alongside her husband Noel, Sue Radford embarked on an unimaginable journey as a mother for over 34 years, giving birth to 22 children out of wedlock.
Sue’s journeys began unexpectedly at the age of 14, when she became pregnant with her first child, Chris, with her school sweetheart, Noel Radford. Sue was born in the UK in 1975 and grew up in a shelter. Sue made this astonishing family legacy conceivable by embracing the role of parent and refusing to cater to social desires.
Their family grew rapidly, including a part every year or so, and each child brought happiness and warmth to the tight-knit Radford family.
The Radford family, comprised of their eldest child, Christopher, 34, and their youngest daughter, Heidi, 22, could be a hive of movement and adoration. Their journey has not been without its pitfalls, although, as in 2014, they sadly lost Alfie, their 17th child. The Radfords’ enduring closeness as a family gives them courage in the face of this misfortune.
Noel’s bakery, which he started in 1999, has kept the Radfords’ accounts secure. The family, happy with their freedom, forgo welfare and credit cards to support the extravagance of annual trips abroad.
The Radfords’ purchase of a ten-bedroom home in 2004 has been the vibrant hub of their expanding family, but they hope to have more space in the future to accommodate the needs of their growing clan.
Sue and Noel prioritise worship, teaching and family values despite the length of ordinary life, creating a supportive environment for their children to thrive. They celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary, demonstrating how beautifully they have maintained their partnership.
Their special family energy has attracted some media attention; they have over 500,000 social media followers and a reality TV show that highlights their daily adventures.
