This old cabinet, which was originally meant to be used for firewood

😨 🫣 This old cabinet, which was originally meant to be used for firewood, 🫣 😨 was ultimately transformed thanks to a bit of my creativity: 🫣 check out the before and after photos in the comments below šŸ‘‡

My first step was to clean it thoroughly, as it had traces left by insects. After that, I removed the varnish from the feet and the top. For the sides and the doors, I had to sand the wood because the varnish was deteriorating.

I repaired the areas where the veneer was coming off by gluing them and holding them in place with clamps until the glue dried.

The small imperfections were covered with wood filler, as I decided to paint it.

For the feet and doors, I applied GAPPA oil and wax. For the doors and sides, I used an acrylic paint with bonding and coloring agents. After two coats of paint, I made sure to smooth the surface between applications to remove any bumps.

Finally, I protected the entire surface with a semi-matte acrylic varnish.

Today, this cabinet is a key piece in our kitchen. Even after buying new furniture, we decided to keep it.

It is now placed in the hallway, where it is used to store tools and building materials. Its compact size is perfect for not cluttering the space.

I’m looking forward to reading your feedback!
