This story of parental joy captured the world’s attention four years ago. The future father sang songs and greeted his daughter every morning during his wife’s pregnancy. When she was born, she turned her head and smiled in response to his voice. A nurse managed to capture this wonderful moment. Here’s that photo.

Flavio Dantas, the happy father, waited eagerly for his little girl from the moment he learned he would become a dad. “He always told her that he loved her so much,” his wife told the Brazilian magazine SoNoticiaBoa. “He always talked to her: ‘Good morning,’ when he left for work, ‘Good evening’—when he came back. He often said, ‘I will always be here’ and would gently pat my belly.”

Every time he talked to her, she responded—kicking back. As it turned out, Flavio’s habit of talking to his daughter paid off. When the medical staff handed the newborn to her parents for their first embrace, Flavio leaned in closer to greet his precious little girl. He repeated the same words he had said to her every day, and Antonella smiled widely at him.

Today, Antonella is already 4 years old.

Flavio started a social media account where he posted many family photos overflowing with happiness.
