This injured dog had no hope of being rescued. She literally had no energy left to continue her journey through the streets of Philadelphia, so she lay down on the doorstep of an unfamiliar house.
And that allowed him to keep his life. Jack didn’t expect this to happen at all. He was having a quiet day with his family and forgot to close the door all the way.
How frightened the family was when a suspicious noise was heard outside the door at four in the morning.
Jack went out to see what was wrong. It turned out that a stray dog had entered the young family’s house. He was incredibly thin and limped on one leg.
Despite the fact that the couple had just had a little one and that rehabilitating the dog was not part of the Jonikens’ plans, they decided to keep the dog. The dog’s name was Suzy.
Susie was immediately taken to the vet. Susie turned out to be a very affectionate and calm dog. She has gained weight and is very reverential towards Joniken’s young daughter.
The dog has therefore become a full member of this little family. The Jonikens were able to find the man and thank him for his interest. They were happy that a stranger had helped them keep their house tidy.
And although the family is incredibly happy to meet Susie, the adult Jonikens are now constantly checking to make sure their door is securely closed.
