After the death of the young queen, the entire palace fell into mourning, and her body covered in golden jewelry was left inside the temple until dawn under the guard of the kingdom’s greatest warriors… but when the priests opened the temple doors in the morning, a true horror awaited them inside 😨
What happened in the temple that night remains a mystery to this day 😳
After the death of the young queen, the enormous palace was consumed by deep mourning. The vast corridors where music and laughter had echoed just the day before were now drowned in heavy silence. Servants walked almost soundlessly, people avoided looking each other in the eyes, and hundreds of torches burned along the walls, filling the palace with the smell of oil and smoke.
The people of the kingdom believed that the soul of a ruler did not leave the world of the living immediately after death. According to an ancient tradition, the queen’s body had to remain inside the sacred temple for one night so the gods could decide her fate in the afterlife. Until dawn, no one was allowed to disturb the peace of the dead.
The young queen was dressed in luxurious red robes decorated with gold and pearls. A heavy crown was placed upon her head, and around her neck they hung the ancient necklace of the dynasty that had been passed down for generations. Her face looked peaceful, as if the woman were simply asleep.
Late in the evening, the body was carried into the palace’s main temple.
It was a massive stone chamber with towering columns, statues of gods, and a long hall disappearing into darkness.
The kingdom’s finest warriors were positioned along the walls.
Tall armed men in golden armor stood motionless beside the columns holding spears and swords. Even the enemies of the kingdom feared these men, because every one of them had been personally chosen to protect the rulers of the palace.
Before the doors were sealed, the high priest looked at the warriors one last time and slowly said:
— No matter what you hear tonight, the doors must not be opened.
The heavy stone doors shut, and the temple sank into complete darkness and silence.
Later, some servants swore they heard strange sounds coming from inside during the middle of the night. But no one dared to enter.
When morning came, priests, servants, palace guards, and the ruler himself gathered outside the temple. The high priest ordered the doors to be opened for the final farewell ritual.
But only seconds later, the temple filled with screams of horror. Inside, they found… 😳 The continuation of this story can be found in the first comment 👇
The queen still lay in the center of the hall with her eyes closed and a calm expression on her face. Her golden jewelry shimmered in the torchlight as if nothing had happened during the night.
But all the warriors left behind to guard the temple were no longer alive.
Some lay beside the columns, others directly near the doors with weapons still in their hands. There were no wounds, no blood, and no signs of struggle on their bodies. It looked as if death had come for all of them at the exact same moment.
Whispers of a curse immediately spread throughout the palace.
Some believed the gods had taken the guards together with the queen so she would not remain alone in the afterlife. Others claimed the priests had deliberately condemned the warriors to death for an ancient secret ritual.
But many years later, completely different explanations appeared.
Some scholars suggested that the oxygen inside the sealed temple had simply run out that night. The massive chamber had almost no ventilation, the torches burned until dawn, and the heavy doors were tightly sealed. Perhaps the warriors never even realized they were beginning to suffocate.
But one detail still frightens people more than anything else.
Why none of the armed men even tried to open the doors and save themselves.
And what truly happened inside the temple that night, no one will ever know.
