She Gives Up Her Dog to the Shelter Due to Financial Hardship: The Shelter Offers Lifetime Food So She Can Keep It

To adopt a pet and ensure its care requires dedication and vigilance, which explains why some animals end up being abandoned. Such was the fate of Lilo, a dog taken in by an animal shelter in Tennessee, USA, with a touching note.

The McKamey Animal Center in Chattanooga announced on its Facebook profile that Lilo had been spotted by a kind passerby. She was walking on a leash with a touching note about her.

“I am Lilo. Please take care of me. My mom, who is homeless and already has two children, can no longer feed me. She cares deeply about me, and I am a great dog who loves to be given affection. Please treat me well,” read the note.

Faced with this reality, the shelter responded by sending a message to the dog’s owner, reminding them that they offer services such as food distribution, vaccinations, and microchipping for dogs and cats, regardless of the circumstances.

“We regret that you have to make this difficult decision to part with her,” the shelter wrote on social media.

“We know that it is challenging today to keep pets and their owners together. We hope that families do not have to part with their pets.”

Fortunately, the story has a happy ending: Lilo’s owner came to retrieve her. The shelter shared this good news while remaining discreet about the details of their meeting.

In conclusion, the shelter calls on all pet owners not to abandon their companions.

“Abandoning a pet is not only prohibited, but it is also an option that should never be considered.”
