Every night, my husband waited until I fell asleep and then quietly went into my 8-year-old daughter’s room

Every night, my husband waited until I fell asleep and then quietly went into my 8-year-old daughter’s room. At first, I believed his explanations, but one day I hid a camera there, and when I saw what was happening beside her bed after midnight, my hands began to shake with horror 😲😱

After divorcing my first husband, my daughter Sofia and I lived alone for several years. The divorce was difficult, and I was most worried about my child, so for a long time I didn’t even think about starting a new relationship.

Then I met Daniel. He was ten years older than me, worked as an engineer, and seemed like a very calm and reliable person. Most importantly, he never tried to replace Sofia’s father or forced her to call him Dad.

That was probably why my daughter quickly became attached to him.

Two years later, we got married, and for a while, it seemed like everything had finally fallen into place. But soon Sofia began having strange sleep problems.

She would sometimes wake up in the middle of the night and run to me, saying that someone was walking around near her bed. Sometimes I found her sitting on the floor by the door. Several times, she even woke up in the hallway with absolutely no memory of how she had gotten there.

I thought they were just normal childhood fears or sleepwalking.

But about a month ago, I noticed something else strange.

Almost every night, Daniel would get out of our bed around one or two in the morning.

The first time, I asked him where he was going, and my husband said he couldn’t sleep and wanted to sit in the living room for a while. Another time, he said he was going to get some water.

I didn’t find anything suspicious about it until one night, around three in the morning, I woke up and realized that once again he wasn’t beside me.

I went downstairs, but there was no one in the living room. The kitchen was empty too. As I was heading back to the bedroom, I heard a quiet voice coming from Sofia’s room.

The door was slightly open.

I carefully peeked inside and saw Daniel beside her bed. Sofia was asleep, while he sat next to her holding her hand.

“What are you doing here?” I asked.

My husband clearly hadn’t expected to see me.

“She woke up again and was crying. I heard her and came in to calm her down.”

The explanation seemed perfectly normal, but something else bothered me. If Sofia really woke up almost every night, why had he never mentioned it to me in the morning?

The next day, I asked my daughter:

“Sofia, does Daniel often come into your room at night?”

She was silent for a few seconds and then said:

“Almost always.”

After hearing those words, I became deeply uneasy.

I didn’t want to accuse my husband without proof, so that evening I installed a small camera on the bookshelf, positioned so that the bed and most of the room were visible.

For three nights, nothing unusual happened.

On the fourth night, I opened the recording and literally froze in front of the screen. I never expected anything like this from the person I loved 😨😱 The rest of the story can be found in the first comment 👇👇

At around 2:17 a.m., the bedroom door slowly opened.

But Daniel didn’t come in.

First, Sofia herself got out of bed.

Her eyes were open, but she moved as though she were still asleep. The girl walked over to the wardrobe, took an old box from the bottom drawer, and sat down on the floor.

A few seconds later, Daniel entered the room.

He immediately walked over to Sofia, took the box away from her, and tried to put her back to bed.

But my daughter suddenly grabbed his hand and whispered:

“She called me again.”

I replayed that moment several times because I couldn’t understand who she was talking about. Then Sofia pointed toward the wardrobe.

Daniel opened the box, took out an old photograph, and stared at it for several seconds before quickly putting it back.

In the morning, I waited until Sofia had left for school, placed my laptop in front of my husband, and played the recording.

“Now tell me everything.”

Daniel remained silent for a long time and then brought me that same box.

Inside were belongings that had belonged to my mother, who died when Sofia was only four years old. After her death, I had put the box away, and over time, I had completely forgotten about it.

But a few weeks earlier, Sofia had accidentally found it.

Daniel admitted that my daughter had started waking up at night, taking out her grandmother’s photograph, and talking to her. Sometimes she did it while sleepwalking and remembered nothing afterward.

He had wanted to tell me several times, but Sofia had asked him not to.

“She said you would start crying if you found out,” my husband explained.

And that was the part that made me angriest of all.

Not because Daniel had done anything bad to my daughter, but because an adult had agreed to keep a secret from me about her nighttime behavior.

That same day, we took Sofia to a doctor and later consulted a child sleep specialist. After several conversations, we discovered that my daughter had been struggling deeply with her grandmother’s death, even though she almost never talked about it, and that the nighttime episodes had become more frequent after she found her grandmother’s belongings.
