I married my best friend’s sister, but on our wedding night, she asked me to turn off every light in the room and would not even let me unzip her wedding dress. However, when she finally took the dress off, I was completely horrified by what I saw… 😲

I had been in love with my best friend’s sister since childhood. While the other boys chased after different girls, I only ever looked at her. She was kind, calm, and very beautiful, and for some reason, I was certain that one day she would become my wife. Back then, it seemed like nothing more than a childhood dream, but my feelings only grew stronger with each passing year.

When we grew up, I finally confessed my love to her. To my great happiness, it turned out that she had also had feelings for me for a long time. A few months later, I proposed to her, and she immediately said yes.

Only one person did not share our happiness at all.

Her brother, my best friend.

When he found out that we had decided to get married, he suddenly changed. He stopped joking with me, was constantly tense, and told me several times that perhaps we should not rush into the wedding.

“Are you sure you really want this?” he asked me one day.

“Of course. I love her.”

He remained silent for a long time before letting out a heavy sigh.

“It’s just that… if you knew everything, you might change your mind.”

I did not understand what he was talking about. I thought he simply did not want to see his sister get married. Many brothers behave that way, so I did not pay much attention to his words.

On the day of the wedding, he looked even more troubled. While the guests celebrated, he barely spoke to anyone and kept looking at his sister as though he was deeply worried about her.

Before we left, he came up to me.

“Do not be afraid.”

Those were strange words, but I did not question him at the time.

Late that evening, we went up to the bridal suite. I closed the door, smiled, and was about to turn on the bedside lamps to make the room feel more comfortable.

But my wife suddenly stopped me.

“No. Turn off all the lights.”

“Why? It is already almost dark.”

She looked at me with frightened eyes.

“Please. All of them.”

I tried to make a joke.

“Are you shy?”

But she suddenly became very serious.

“If you do not turn off the lights, I will go to another room.”

Her reaction surprised me, but I still did as she asked. The room was plunged into almost complete darkness.

She slowly turned her back to me and tried to unzip the long zipper on her wedding dress by herself. It was clearly difficult because her fingers could not quite reach it.

I moved closer.

“Let me help you.”

But the moment I touched the zipper, she suddenly jumped away.

“No!”

She practically screamed as she covered her back with her hands.

I was completely confused.

“What is going on?”

She did not answer.

“You are scaring me.”

She continued to remain silent.

“What are you hiding from me?”

Only then did she allow me to unzip her wedding dress. As the fabric slowly slipped from her shoulders, I saw something that left me completely shocked. 😳 The rest of the story can be found in the first comment 👇👇

After saying those words, she slowly lowered her head. It seemed as though she was about to cry.

A few seconds later, I heard her quiet voice.

“If you want to leave after this… I will understand.”

She slowly moved her hands away.

“Unzip the dress.”

My fingers trembled as I slowly pulled down the zipper.

When the fabric slipped from her shoulders, I froze.

Her entire back was covered in old burn scars. There was hardly a single area of skin without deep marks. It was clear that those injuries had happened many years earlier.

For several seconds, I could not say a single word.

She began to cry quietly.

“Now you understand why my brother was against our marriage…”

I asked gently:

“What happened to you?”

She remained silent for a long time before she finally began to tell me.

When she was only ten years old, a fire broke out in their house during the night. The children’s bedroom caught fire, and her younger brother could not get out. She did not run away. Instead, she rushed back into the flames to save him. She managed to push him out through the window, but she suffered severe burns herself. The doctors fought for months to save her life, and afterward she had to undergo dozens of operations.

“My brother has always believed that it happened because of him,” she said through her tears. “He has felt guilty his entire life. That is why he was afraid that once you saw my scars, you would no longer want to stay with me.”

At that moment, I finally understood his strange behavior.

He had not been trying to ruin our wedding.

He only wanted to protect his sister from being hurt again.

I walked over to my wife, gently embraced her, and said:

“I fell in love with you long before this wedding. And I love you exactly the same way now. Your scars change nothing.”

For the first time that evening, she smiled.
