No nurse could last longer than a week beside the ruthless mafia boss. But the new caregiver ordered his armed guards to leave the room, then did something to the patient that left him completely shocked 😳

Over the past month, five nurses had left Adrian Romano’s mansion. One lasted only a few hours, another ran out of the house in tears, even forgetting her bag, while a third threatened to go to the police. That same evening, Romano’s lawyer visited her, and after a brief conversation, the woman never told anyone what had happened.

Almost the entire city was afraid of Adrian. He ran a massive criminal organization, was used to giving orders, and absolutely could not tolerate anyone contradicting him.

But three weeks earlier, he had been shot.

The bullet had passed close to one of his lungs, damaged several ribs, and after the surgery, inflammation developed. The doctors insisted that he remain in the hospital, but Adrian refused and ordered his bedroom in the mansion to be equipped with medical equipment.

The problem was that he turned out to be a terrible patient.

He tore off his bandages, refused painkillers, yelled at the nurses, and several times tried to get out of bed on his own. After yet another attempt, the wound reopened.

That was when 29-year-old Eva Miller arrived at the mansion.

She had accepted the job only because of the money.

Her younger brother, Daniel, suffered from a rare blood disorder. Conventional treatment barely helped, while a new therapy cost more than Eva could earn even after working for several years.

So when an unknown man offered her eight thousand dollars for every week of work, she agreed almost immediately.

The conditions were strange. Eva had to live in the mansion, take no photographs inside, ask no questions, and perform only her medical duties.

At the door, she was greeted by a tall man named Viktor.

“I’m responsible for Mr. Romano’s security,” he introduced himself. “I suggest you remember the most important rule: never argue with him.”

Eva looked at him.

“If one of his orders puts his life at risk, I will argue with him.”

Viktor smirked.

“That’s exactly what the previous nurse said.”

He led her upstairs.

Adrian was sitting on the edge of an enormous bed. His chest was bandaged and his face was pale, but even now he looked as though he was the one controlling everything happening around him.

“Another one?” he asked irritably.

“Eva Miller. Your new nurse.”

“For how long?”

“That depends on you.”

The guards exchanged glances. Normally, no one spoke to Adrian like that. The first two days passed relatively calmly, but on the third evening, his condition suddenly worsened.

His temperature rose to almost forty degrees Celsius. Adrian was struggling to breathe, yet he absolutely refused to let Eva touch the bandage.

“I said, don’t touch me!”

“I need to examine the wound.”

“Get out.”

Eva didn’t move. Adrian turned to the guards.

“Get her out of here.”

Two men stepped forward, but Eva suddenly said:

“No. Actually, you two get out.”

The room fell silent.

“Are you giving orders to my men?” Adrian hissed.

“Yes. Get out. Now.”

The guards simply nodded and immediately obeyed her order, forgetting for a moment what kind of man their boss really was. When they were finally alone, the nurse did something that left Adrian completely shocked 😳😱 The rest of the story can be found in the first comment 👇👇

He tried to sit up, but immediately grimaced in pain.

“No one is taking this bandage off.”

And then Eva understood the reason.

Adrian wasn’t afraid of the pain. He was afraid of showing weakness in front of his men. That was exactly why he refused help whenever his guards were around, forced himself to stand despite the pain, and pretended that he had everything completely under control.

Eva looked at the guards again.

“Leave and close the door.”

This time, Viktor unexpectedly nodded to the others. A few seconds later, Eva and Adrian were alone.

Eva walked over to the bed.

“Now there’s no one here to see that you’re in pain. So stop pretending you’re immortal and let me do my job.”

Adrian stared at her for several seconds and, for the first time, said nothing.

Eva carefully removed the old bandage and immediately realized that the situation was more serious than it had seemed. The skin around the wound was badly reddened, there was swelling, and fluid had accumulated beneath the bandage.

But there was something even worse. When Eva gently pressed near the injured area, Adrian suddenly cried out and grabbed her arm.

“What are you doing?!”

“Checking exactly what I was afraid of.”

She immediately called a doctor despite Adrian’s direct order not to contact anyone without his permission. Forty minutes later, a surgeon arrived at the mansion.

The examination revealed a deep infection. If Eva had listened to the patient and left the bandage on until morning, the infection could have entered his bloodstream and caused sepsis.

Adrian urgently underwent a minor second operation right there in the mansion’s fully equipped medical room.

The next morning, Eva was packing her things. She was certain she was going to be fired. There was a knock at the door. It was Viktor.

“Mr. Romano wants to see you.”

Adrian was lying in bed and looked exhausted.

“You disobeyed two of my orders in a single evening.”

“Three,” Eva calmly corrected him. “I also ordered your guards to leave.”

The man remained silent for several seconds.

“Everyone else was afraid of me.”

“I was afraid too.”

“Then why didn’t you stop?”

Eva looked him straight in the eyes.

“Because I’m not paid to agree with you. I’m paid to keep you alive.”

Adrian unexpectedly smiled. Then he placed an envelope on the table. Eva assumed it contained her final paycheck, but inside was a check for enough money to cover several months of Daniel’s treatment.

“What is this?” she asked, confused.

“An advance.”

“For what?”

Adrian leaned back against the pillow.

“For the next six months of work. It looks like I’ve finally found a nurse who isn’t afraid to tell me ‘no.’”
