The mother-in-law deliberately pushed her daughter-in-law, who was eight months pregnant, into the pool and called it nothing more than a harmless joke. But she could never have imagined what her daughter-in-law would do in response… 😱
Emma was eight months pregnant. That day, the family had organized a party to reveal the gender of the baby. Decorated tables stood in the yard of the country house, music was playing, and a large box filled with balloons had been prepared beside the pool.
The party was being held at the home of Margaret, the mother of Emma’s husband. From early that morning, the mother-in-law had been irritated and kept making remarks to her daughter-in-law.
“I don’t understand why you chose such a simple dress,” she said. “You’ll look terrible in the photographs.”
“The most important thing for me right now is to feel comfortable,” Emma replied calmly.
Margaret had never hidden the fact that she did not consider Emma a suitable wife for her son, Daniel. She claimed that Emma had married him for his money, interfered with the choice of doctor, and even tried to decide what the baby would be called.
Each time, Daniel asked his wife not to pay attention to her.
“My mother is simply worried about us. She has a difficult personality, but she doesn’t wish you any harm.”
At the height of the party, the guests gathered near the pool. The photographer asked the couple to stand beside the box, but Margaret suddenly announced that she wanted to give her daughter-in-law a present first.
“Emma, come over here,” she called.

The laughter quickly died away. Beneath the water, they could see the young woman desperately moving her arms, but her heavy dress was pulling her downward.
Daniel ran to the edge of the pool.
“Emma!” he shouted.
Margaret stopped smiling.
“She’ll come back up in a moment. Don’t make such a drama out of it.”

“She can’t swim! You knew that!”
“I forgot,” Margaret muttered, stepping backward.
One of the guests jumped into the water fully clothed. A few seconds later, he pulled Emma out and handed her to the people waiting beside the pool. She was not moving.
A female doctor who was among the guests immediately began giving her first aid. Daniel knelt beside his wife, repeating her name over and over.
A few seconds later, Emma coughed, gasped for breath, and opened her eyes. The first thing she did was grab her belly with both hands.

Margaret came closer.
“Emma, forgive me. I misjudged my strength. It was only a joke.”

Emma asked her sister to bring her bag. Her phone would no longer turn on after being submerged in the water, so she asked her sister to open the security camera application on another device.
Margaret immediately became tense.
“What cameras?”
“The ones I had installed beside the pool this morning.”
Daniel looked at his wife in surprise.
“Why did you do that?”
“Because yesterday, your mother called me and told me not to go near the water. Then she added that an unfortunate accident might happen to me during the party.”

“I never said that!” Margaret shouted.
Emma asked her sister to play the recording made ten minutes before the push.
The video showed Margaret speaking to her friend near the pool. The mother-in-law had not noticed the camera and said that she intended to push Emma into the water to put her in her place.
Her friend reminded her that Emma could not swim.
Margaret merely smirked.
“Even better. After a good scare, she’ll understand who is in charge of this family.”

“And then you did exactly what you said you would do,” Emma’s sister replied.
The mother-in-law grabbed her son by the arm.

Emma then asked someone to help her sit up, removed her wedding ring, and placed it in front of her husband.
“What are you doing?” he asked in confusion.
“What I should have done a long time ago.”
“This is not the time to discuss our relationship.”
“On the contrary. Your mother humiliated me, threatened me, and tried to control our lives, while you defended her every single time. Today, she nearly killed me and our child, yet you still cannot say a single word to her.”
“I’m just in shock.”
“And I no longer want to wait for you to stop being a frightened son and finally become a husband.”
Margaret tried to interrupt, but Emma stopped her.
“You will never come near me or my child again. Now you can explain your joke to the police.”
Soon afterward, paramedics and police officers entered the yard. Margaret began to cry, promised to apologize and pay for all the medical treatment, but several guests had already saved the recordings.
