There was a little more than a month left before the wedding.
Dmitri was the only son of a very wealthy businessman. He had grown up surrounded by luxury, had ridden in expensive cars since childhood, wore costly suits, and was used to believing that money could solve any problem. His mother fully shared these views and always repeated that their family should associate only with people from their own social circle.
When Dmitri announced that he was going to get married, his mother immediately wanted to meet his future bride.
“I hope she at least comes from a respectable family?” she asked.

That day, they were supposed to meet outside a large car dealership where the young woman worked.
His mother arrived early. An expensive black car smoothly stopped near the entrance. She stepped out and looked around with curiosity.
A few seconds later, a young woman came out of the repair area wearing blue work overalls. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail, her hands were stained with motor oil, and she was carrying tools.
She smiled and walked toward them.
“Hello. It’s very nice to meet you.”
The woman slowly looked over her clothes and then turned to her son.
“Wait… She’s a mechanic?”
Dmitri smiled awkwardly.
“Yes. She repairs cars.”
His mother’s expression changed immediately.
“Are you seriously planning to marry a woman who spends all day crawling under cars?”
The young woman remained silent.
But Dmitri suddenly burst out laughing.
“To be honest, Mom, I still can’t get used to it myself. Sometimes I come here and see her covered in oil, crawling under cars. Can you imagine?”

“I think a wrench suits her better than an engagement ring,” the woman said mockingly.
“And she should probably replace her wedding dress with work overalls,” Dmitri added.
Several employees at the service center heard those words and exchanged glances, but no one said anything.
The young woman calmly wiped her hands with a cloth and quietly asked:
“Are you finished?”
“No,” Dmitri smirked. “I just don’t understand why anyone would work as a mechanic when she could find a normal job for a woman. After the wedding, you won’t come back here again.”
“Of course she won’t,” his mother said with a contemptuous smile. “Women in our family do not repair cars.”

“So you are certain that you know absolutely everything about this place?”
“Of course,” Dmitri sneered. “It’s just an ordinary car service center.”
She smiled faintly.
“Then follow me.”
She slowly led them through the enormous showroom. Every employee they passed greeted her immediately.
“Good morning.”
“Hello.”
“It’s good to see you.”
His mother looked around in surprise.
“Why is everyone speaking to you like that?”
The young woman did not answer.
She walked up to a glass door with a sign that read “Director,” opened it with an electronic key, and calmly stepped inside.
Dmitri and his mother stopped, completely confused.
The young woman sat down behind a large desk, opened her laptop, and pressed the intercom button.
“Andrei, please come to my office.”
A few seconds later, a man in his fifties wearing an expensive suit entered the office.
“Good afternoon. Did you call for me?”
“Yes. Prepare the documents for today’s deal. And one more thing… please cancel Dmitri’s car order.”
The man nodded.
“Of course, ma’am.”
After those words, the office became so quiet that even the sound of the air conditioner could be heard.
Dmitri looked first at the man and then at the young woman in complete confusion.

She calmly looked him in the eyes.
“This car dealership, the service center, and the entire chain belong to me. I founded them with my father many years ago, and after his death, I became the sole owner. Sometimes I personally go into the workshop and work alongside the mechanics because I love what I do and want to know what is happening in my company.”
His mother visibly turned pale.
“But… why didn’t you tell us anything?”
“Because I wanted to find out how you treat people who honestly work with their hands.”
Dmitri took a step forward.

She raised her hand, stopping him from finishing.
“No. You said exactly what you truly thought.”
She opened the folder lying on the desk.
“By the way, your new Rolls-Royce, which you ordered from us, was already ready for delivery. But now another customer will receive it. At least he respects the people who serve him.”
Dmitri was completely at a loss.
“Please, let’s fix everything.”
The young woman calmly removed the engagement ring from her finger and placed it on the desk.
“Do you know what the most interesting part is? While you were laughing at my work overalls, all the employees around us stayed silent only because they did not want to interrupt their boss.”
She smiled.
