While others would have overlooked this worn-out and unattractive dresser, she saw its potential. She envisioned it as a perfect addition to her interior.
To start, she removed the old finish using only Fairy dish soap and a metal sponge. Given that the plywood and pine were not very valuable and that the drawers were missing, she decided to give it a makeover with some paint.
Her project involved turning it into a shoe cabinet. She began by sanding down the imperfections of the wood and cleaning the surface before applying the paint. The interior shelves were revamped using leftover paint from a previous project.
Although the paint was labeled as acrylic enamel, it behaved more like alkyd—thick and odorous—but it covered the surface beautifully. To replace the missing drawers, she crafted new doors from materials purchased at a local market.
