Tim Bushe lives in the Islington neighborhood of London, United Kingdom.
Driven by his love for his wife, Philippa, who passed away seven years ago from cancer, the man decided to transform the trees and bushes on his street into true works of art.
Transforming the trees is the way Tim found to honor his wife, after 47 years of marriage and three children.
In tribute to his wife, Tim began carefully trimming the hedges on the street into various shapes, becoming a true artist.
One can find nudes, cats, fish, etc. there. Tim feels like an artist using the tools of a gardener. He explains that he finds the shape within the hedge.
The place has become a tourist attraction. Many people come to Tim’s street to see the sculpted trees.
Some even contribute financially, allowing the man to donate funds for his environmental work.
The first tree transformed into art was trimmed into the shape of a cat. Tim’s wife was still alive then. “So I gave her the cat she asked for for the first time. It’s her legacy,” he explains.
Tim also created a recreation of the painting “Reclining Nude” by the British sculptor Henry Moore.
“I was a bit worried that the neighbors might be offended, but they did not protest,” says the artist.
Tim explains that he loves seeing the results of his hobby through people’s reactions: some smile, others are pleasantly surprised, but everyone appreciates it.
