The millionaire decided to choose a wife by looking only at her hands, without even seeing her face. But when he finally made his choice among twenty women and the white sheet was removed from the chosen woman’s head, the man froze in shock 😨
Alexander was thirty-eight years old. He owned several large companies, lived in a huge mansion, and could afford practically anything.
In recent years, beautiful women had constantly appeared by his side. Models, actresses, and daughters of wealthy businessmen dreamed of being close to the millionaire. They smiled at him, said beautiful things, and assured him that his money did not interest them at all.
But Alexander had stopped believing them long ago.
As soon as he hid his status when meeting a woman or said that he was having problems in business, her attitude quickly changed.
One evening, after another boring dinner, Alexander returned home and said to his assistant, Michael:
— I want to get married.
Michael looked at him in surprise.
— To whom?
— I don’t know.
Alexander was silent for a moment, then unexpectedly added:
— And I don’t want to know. Let fate decide for me.
The next day, the millionaire explained his strange plan.
His assistants had to find twenty completely different unmarried women. Alexander forbade them from choosing the women based on looks, wealth, or social status. Moreover, no one was allowed to tell him who these women were, where they worked, or what families they came from.
And when the women arrived at the mansion, their faces and bodies had to be completely hidden beneath identical white sheets. Only their hands were to be visible.
— I will choose one of them, Alexander declared. And I will marry that woman.
Michael tried to persuade his boss to abandon this crazy idea, but Alexander would not even listen to him.
A few days later, everything was ready.
A long table was placed in the grand hall of the mansion. Twenty women sat along it, completely covered by identical white sheets. Only their hands were extended outside.
Alexander entered the hall. Behind him stood his assistants and several security guards.
The man slowly approached the first woman. In front of him were slender fingers, a perfect manicure, and an expensive ring.
He lightly touched her palm and moved on.
The second woman’s hands were just as well cared for. An expensive bracelet shone on the third woman’s wrist. The fourth had long nails. Alexander was in no hurry. He carefully examined every palm, sometimes gently touched the fingers, but said nothing.
He reached almost the very end. Then suddenly, he stopped.
One woman’s hands were very different from all the others.
She wore neither rings nor bracelets. Her nails were short and without polish. The skin on her palms was dry and slightly rough, and near her thumb there was a small old scar.
Alexander suddenly took one of her hands in his.
The woman flinched slightly.
The millionaire ran his finger over the small scar and remained silent for several seconds.
— This one.
The room became completely silent. Michael looked sharply at the guards. Several men exchanged glances.
— Sir, the assistant said carefully. It would be better if you learned something first.
— No.
— But this woman…
— I said I do not want to know anything before making my choice, Alexander interrupted him. I chose her.
He turned to the woman.
— Remove the sheet.
No one moved.
— I said, remove it.
One of the guards slowly approached the woman and removed the white sheet from her head. Alexander froze in shock when he saw the woman he had chosen 😱🫣 You can find the rest of the story in the first comment 👇👇
Sarah stood before him. He knew this woman very well. For almost two years, she had worked as a cleaner in his own mansion.
Every morning, Sarah arrived earlier than most employees. She washed the floors, cleaned the rooms, took out the trash, and tried not to catch the owner’s attention at all.
— You?… was all Alexander could say.
Sarah lowered her gaze.
Michael finally explained what had happened.
At the last moment, one of the twenty invited women had become frightened and refused to participate. Only a few minutes were left before the start, and Alexander had demanded that there be exactly twenty women.
Then the guards noticed Sarah, who was cleaning the neighboring room at that moment.
They convinced her to take the empty place. No one had even thought that the millionaire would choose her.
On the contrary, the men were sure that Alexander would immediately pass by when he saw the rough hands of a simple cleaner.
Sarah was sure of that too.
— Is that why you tried to stop me? Alexander asked.
Michael nodded. The millionaire looked at the woman’s hands again. Now he understood why they were so rough.
Those hands worked every day. And Alexander unexpectedly remembered the small scar as well.
A few months earlier, an expensive glass vase had broken in the living room. Sarah was collecting the pieces and cut her hand. Alexander happened to walk by and even asked if she was all right.
He forgot about it five minutes later.
But the scar remained.
— I’m sorry, sir, Sarah said quietly. I did not want to deceive you. They only told me to sit here for a few minutes.
Alexander looked at her for a long time.
For the first time, a woman stood before him who had not tried to get into that hall, had not dreamed of becoming his wife, and had even been sure that he would never choose her.
And she was the one he had chosen himself among twenty unfamiliar hands.
Michael asked cautiously:
— Shall I order her to return to work?
Alexander turned to his assistant.
— No.
Then he looked at Sarah again and held out his hand to her.
— I promised that I would not change my decision after seeing the face of the woman I chose.
Sarah looked at him in confusion.
And Alexander smiled for the first time in a long while.
— It seems fate really did decide for me.
