The trial of Jimena Ramírez was already in its third day.
Before her arrest, she had worked as a translator for a large international logistics company. Contracts with foreign suppliers, customs documents, and business correspondence all passed through her hands.
Six months earlier, the company had closed the biggest deal in its history.

For the prosecution, everything looked almost perfect.
That day, prosecutor Daniel Crow placed another folder in front of the judge.

For several seconds, she studied a small line at the bottom of the page, then suddenly asked:

The prosecutor replied that it wouldn’t change anything, but the judge allowed the document to be shown.
A German text appeared on the screen.
Jimena read several lines and translated them aloud.
The translation was completely different.

Jimena had signed the document at 6:42 p.m.
The disputed clause had been changed at 9:16 p.m. Almost three hours after she had signed it. But the most unexpected discovery appeared on the next line.
The system had recorded the username of the account from which the change had been made. The judge stared silently at the screen for several seconds, then ordered the image to be enlarged.
It was the account of the company’s financial director — the man who had first accused Jimena and handed the documents over to investigators.
