My daughter told us that my husband and I should pay for her wedding: that’s when we decided to teach her a lesson

My daughter said that my husband and I should not only pay for her wedding but also buy an apartment for her and her fiancé.

My husband and I had saved $1500, which seemed like a considerable amount to us, but my daughter responded:

— What kind of amount is this? With this, you can’t even organize a proper wedding. You also need to buy us an apartment!

I was at a loss for words:

— Where are we going to find that much money?

— Find it! What were you doing while I wasn’t around? You should have thought about my future from the start! If you can’t, sell your house.

I was completely shocked:

— But darling, it’s already hard for us to find a job…

— It’s your fault you had me so late. Now you’re useless, I’m ashamed to be seen with you, — she said, leaving the room.

My husband and I were deeply hurt by her words, but we decided to teach her a lesson.

I will explain what we did in the link below 👇 👇

My husband and I got married at 23. At first, we lived with my parents in the village, and then, when we turned 35, we built our own house and settled the garden.

My parents and my in-laws were always pressuring us:

— When will you make us happy with grandchildren?

And we dreamed of having children, but it didn’t happen. Only when we were 39 did we have our long-awaited daughter, Kristina.

We waited so long for her that we tried to make her happy in everything. Kristina never knew how to hear the word “no.”

Although we lived in the countryside and worked from morning till night, our daughter did nothing. She excelled in school, got into university, and is now in her third year.

Recently, she found her fiancé and started talking about the wedding. My husband and I had some savings — $1500. For us, that’s enough, but Kristina said:

— What’s this amount? With this, you can’t even organize a decent wedding. You still need to buy us an apartment!

I was lost for words:

— Where are we going to find that much money?

— Find it! What were you doing while I wasn’t here? You should have thought about my future from the beginning! If you can’t, sell your house.

I opened my mouth:

— Sweetheart, it’s hard for us to find a job…

— It’s your fault you had me so late. Now you’re good for nothing, I’m embarrassed to go out with you, — she said and left the room.

My husband and I sat silently. A sharp knife of pain and emotions was eating us up. How could our child say such things? After all, we always tried for her…

Then my husband said quietly but with determination:

— Well, Kristina. We won’t sell the house and we won’t look for money for you. If you want a big wedding and an apartment, earn it yourself. We’ve given you an education, you’re smart, ambitious, you can do anything.

Kristina suddenly stood up:

— What, are you abandoning us?

— No, — I replied. — We love you very much. But you’ve grown up and you need to learn to do things on your own, not just ask.

Our daughter slammed the door. Time passed without her calling us. We were worried, but we didn’t try to reach out first. Then, after a few months, she came by herself.

— Mom, dad… — she said hesitantly. — I found a job. Of course, it’s not what I dreamed of, but now I understand how hard it is to earn money.

She paused and hugged us:

— Forgive me. I was completely wrong…

We smiled. In the end, our daughter understood that the love of parents is not a wallet full of money, but care, support, and education.

Now Kristina is saving for her wedding, and we are helping her with joy. But now it’s not because we have to, but because she has become a grateful adult.
