A heartbreaking tragedy occurred when a woman died in a head-on car crash, but what shocked the police was what they discovered when they checked her phone.

On Thursday morning at 8:33 AM, 32-year-old Courtney Sanford had shared a post on Facebook: “A happy song makes me SO HAPPY.”

At 8:34 AM, the police were alerted to a head-on collision on a highway in North Carolina, where her vehicle crossed the median, collided with a recycling truck, and caught fire.

Courtney, who was driving alone, was on her way to work on Interstate 85. Authorities confirmed that there was no evidence of excessive speed, drugs, or alcohol being involved in the accident.

It was only later, when friends of the victim informed the police, that investigators realized her social media posts were made roughly at the same time as the incident.

Lieutenant Chris Weisner, spokesperson for the High Point Police Department, stated that this incident served as a tragic warning about the dangers of using a phone while driving, highlighting that Courtney had taken selfies while driving just before the crash, as evidenced by her social media accounts.
