Cruise volunteers managed to save a dog that spent hours swimming in the open sea

A small dog swam for hours in the open sea, and its distress came to an end when a couple, dining on a cruise ship, noticed its desperation and alerted the captain.

Quickly, the captain and volunteers joined forces to save the dog, about a mile from the beach in Fort Myers, Florida, USA.

The dog was desperately swimming towards the back of the boat, crying for help, and fortunately, it was rescued.

Once safely on the cruise ship, the four-legged friend was given water and food. According to the volunteers, the dog reacted very friendly, despite what she had been through alone at sea.

After an examination, the veterinarian discovered that the animal had a microchip, but unfortunately, it wasn’t working.

To find the owners, the volunteers decided to share the story on social media, announcing that a small dog had been saved.

The news reached the dog’s owners, Ben and Kathleen Baker, who had lost all hope of finding her.

It turned out that the adorable little dog was named Ellie.

Ellie’s owner shared that their canine friend had disappeared during a boat trip.

The Bakers expressed their immense gratitude and said it was a miracle that their dog was alive.

“We are very grateful to everyone who saved Ellie. It’s truly a miracle,” said Ben Baker.

Now relieved, the Bakers were finally reunited with their pet.
